OPR - Oakajee Port & Rail

The Business Structure

About Oakajee Port & Rail Pty Ltd (OPR)

Oakajee Port and Rail was established in September 2007 as a joint venture between Murchison Metals Ltd (Murchison), Mitsubishi Development Pty Ltd (MDP) and Crosslands Resources Ltd (Crosslands).

OPR was established to design, develop, construct and operate new rail and deepwater port infrastructure to facilitate the export of expanded production from mines in the mid-west region (including the Jack Hills Project and the Weld Range Project). OPR will be independently operated on a commercial basis to provide open access transport infrastructure to all users.

OPR’s business is underpinned by a world-class consortium including Murchison, Mitsubishi, and leading Australian and international banks.

On 20 March 2009 OPR and the Government of Western Australia executed an exclusive Development Agreement for the development of the Oakajee port and associated rail infrastructure project for Western Australia’s mid-west region.
